But he also understood that people had to be realistic: "Someone wrote to me the other day and said I'm appalled to hear you recommending people should visit the Galapagos Islands." Attenborough explained that unless people visited parts of the world like the Galapagos, there would be no wildlife there anymore: "The local people would simply take over and slaughter and eat it and plant fields."
